China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group (CTCEG) delegation visits Infraestruturas de Portugal
A high-level delegation of the China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group (CTCEG) - a subsidiary of China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) have visited Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), on the 13th September.
The purpose of the visit was to know the “Portuguese Infrastructure Investment Plan – Ferrovia 2020” and to evaluate possible cooperation in the development of sustainable transport infrastructures in the Portuguese Speaking Countries.
As one of the largest subsidiaries of CREC, CTCEG is at the top of the list of the largest Chinese companies in the infrastructure sector. With a recognized activity in mainland China, where it has participated in the construction of more than 10.000km of new railways, in recent years it has successfully expanded its activity to the international market, with several projects carried out in Angola.
CTCEG delegation was led by the Vice-Chairman, Mr. SHAO Gang, and the General Manager for Southern Africa and Portuguese-speaking Countries, Mr. JIAO Ningyan, and was hosted by IP Engenharia Managing Director, Mr. Amílcar Monteiro.
Given the importance of CTCEG and the potential that this company could represent by investing in Portugal, the Secretary of State for Internationalisation Affairs was represented in the meeting by the Board Member of AICEP Portugal Global - Trade & Investment Agency, Mr. António Silva.
In the end of the meeting AICEP transmitted that the Portuguese Government intends to continue to support strategic partnerships between Chinese and Portuguese companies. CTCEG concluded that given IP Group infrastructure management experience they wish to establish a partnership with IP Engenharia to cooperate in the Portuguese Speaking Countries.
